Agreement and scope

These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) form an agreement between you and the Skrybe entity that provides the services in your region (“Skrybe,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). They apply to skrybehq.com and any Skrybe applications, marketplaces, publishing, transcription, collaboration, distribution, or related services that link to them (together, the “Services”).

By creating an account, accessing the Services, uploading content, publishing a book, or completing a purchase, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you use Skrybe for an organisation, you confirm that you can bind that organisation. Additional terms shown for a particular feature, seller programme, subscription, or promotion also apply.

Eligibility and accounts

You must be at least 13 years old, or the minimum age required to use online services in your location. If you are under the age of legal majority, a parent or guardian must review and agree to these Terms where the law requires it. Some seller, payout, contracting, or identity-verification features are available only to adults.

• Provide accurate, current information and keep it updated.
• Protect your password, passkeys, and recovery methods.
• Notify us promptly if you suspect unauthorised access.
• Do not sell, transfer, share, or create accounts to evade enforcement.

You are responsible for activity under your account unless caused by a failure for which Skrybe is legally responsible. We may request identity, age, business, tax, or payout verification before enabling particular features.

What Skrybe does—and does not do

Skrybe provides end-to-end tools that can help people and organisations write, transcribe, edit, format, publish, distribute, discover, buy, and sell books. Unless we expressly agree otherwise in writing, Skrybe is a technology platform and marketplace—not your publisher, literary agent, employer, fiduciary, legal adviser, or tax adviser.

We may curate, recommend, rank, or promote content, but we do not guarantee that a manuscript will be accepted, a book will be discovered, a listing will remain available, or a creator will achieve a particular level of sales, readership, revenue, or editorial quality.

Your content and creative rights

You retain ownership

As between you and Skrybe, you retain ownership of the manuscripts, recordings, covers, illustrations, metadata, reviews, and other original material you submit (“Your Content”).

Permission to operate the Services

You grant Skrybe a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, process, format, adapt for technical display, transmit, distribute, publicly display, and promote Your Content only as reasonably needed to provide, secure, improve, and market the Services or to fulfil the publishing and sales choices you make. This licence includes using covers, titles, excerpts, creator names, and listing information to display and promote published works.

The licence ends when Your Content is deleted or your account closes, except where copies must remain to complete prior purchases, honour reader access, preserve transaction records, comply with law, resolve disputes, prevent abuse, or persist temporarily in secure backups.

Your promises

You confirm that you own or have all permissions required for Your Content, including text, images, fonts, quotations, translations, recordings, names, likenesses, and voices; that your use will not infringe or violate anyone’s rights; and that information in your listings is accurate. You remain responsible for permissions, releases, citations, and royalties owed to third parties.

Writing, transcription, and automated tools

Writing, editing, transcription, formatting, discovery, and other automated features are assistive tools. Their output may be incomplete, inaccurate, similar to existing material, or unsuitable for your purpose. You must review and approve output before relying on, sharing, or publishing it.

Confidential Offline Processing

For eligible highly confidential transcription and book-generation work, Skrybe may offer a workflow clearly identified as “Offline Processing.” When that workflow is selected and confirmed, model inference runs on Skrybe-controlled, network-isolated systems. The files, transcripts, manuscripts, and instructions submitted for that job are not sent to external cloud infrastructure or third-party cloud AI providers for processing.

This commitment applies only to the material and processing covered by the confirmed Offline Processing workflow. Before a job begins, the product will identify its scope, availability, any necessary transfer method, and applicable retention settings. Other Skrybe features remain governed by the standard processing described in our Privacy Policy.

• Upload a recording only when you have permission from the speakers and recording is lawful.
• Do not use the Services to impersonate a person or misrepresent authorship.
• Verify facts, quotations, attributions, rights, and final files before publication.
• Do not treat automated output as legal, medical, financial, or other professional advice.

Feature-specific notices may explain the model, provider, retention, or usage settings that apply. Our handling of private manuscripts and recordings is described in the Privacy Policy.

Publishing and the marketplace

Creators and sellers

You control the works you choose to publish, their territories, available formats, price (subject to technical limits or agreed promotions), and listing information. You must supply complete, functional files and clearly describe format, language, edition, licence, delivery, and any material limitations. Skrybe may reject or remove content that violates these Terms or creates legal, safety, or quality risks.

Readers and buyers

A purchase grants only the personal or organisational usage rights stated at checkout or in the listing. Unless expressly permitted, buyers may not reproduce, resell, publicly distribute, scrape, remove rights-management information from, or use a book to train a model. Ownership of copyright does not transfer with a purchase.

Availability and refunds

Prices, taxes, currencies, promotions, territorial availability, and delivery methods may vary. Digital purchases may be delivered immediately. Refund eligibility depends on applicable law, the listing, product format, and the refund terms presented at checkout. Nothing in these Terms removes a non-waivable cancellation, refund, repair, replacement, or conformity right.

Payments, fees, payouts, and taxes

Payments and creator payouts may be handled by third-party payment providers. By using payment features, you also agree to their terms and authorise the processing necessary to complete the transaction. Fees, commissions, exchange rates, taxes, and net proceeds will be disclosed in the relevant flow or seller terms.

• You authorise Skrybe to deduct disclosed fees, refunds, chargebacks, taxes, and lawful offsets from amounts payable to you.
• Payouts may require identity, bank, tax, and sanctions screening and may be held while risk, ownership, or transaction disputes are reviewed.
• You are responsible for taxes, registrations, invoices, and reporting that apply to your sales or earnings, except taxes Skrybe is legally required to collect or remit.
• Subscriptions renew as disclosed at purchase until cancelled. Cancellation applies prospectively unless law requires otherwise.

Organisations and team workspaces

An organisation may appoint administrators who can invite or remove members, manage permissions, access workspace content and activity, control billing, and export or delete data. If you join with an organisation-controlled email address or account, the organisation’s agreement and policies may govern its workspace.

The organisation is responsible for assigning rights, obtaining employee or contributor permissions, and deciding who owns content created in its workspace. Individual users should direct workspace access or ownership questions to their administrator. We may rely on authorised administrator instructions.

Acceptable use

You may not use Skrybe to create, upload, sell, buy, or distribute material or engage in conduct that:

• is unlawful, fraudulent, deceptive, defamatory, exploitative, or infringes intellectual property, privacy, publicity, contractual, or other rights;
• sexualises or exploits children, facilitates abuse, or presents a credible threat of harm;
• harasses, intimidates, discriminates against, or unlawfully targets a person or protected group;
• contains malware, bypasses access controls, interferes with the Services, or probes systems without permission;
• manipulates rankings, reviews, referrals, sales, or engagement, including through coordinated or automated activity;
• scrapes, harvests, reverse engineers, or uses Services or content to develop a competing model or product except where law expressly permits it;
• evades moderation, account limits, payment controls, sanctions, or legal restrictions.

Context matters in books and scholarship. We may consider literary, educational, documentary, historical, artistic, and public-interest value when applying these rules, while prioritising safety and law.

Copyright and rights reports

We respect intellectual property and may remove or restrict disputed content, preserve evidence, contact relevant users, and terminate repeat infringers where appropriate. A rights report should identify the protected work, the allegedly infringing material and its location, your contact details, your authority to act, and a good-faith statement that the use is unauthorised.

Send complete reports to legal@skrybehq.com. We may ask for additional information. Knowingly submitting a false report or counter-notice may create legal liability.

Suspension, cancellation, and ending service

You may stop using Skrybe or close your account through available settings, subject to outstanding transactions, subscriptions, seller obligations, and retention required by law. We may restrict, suspend, or terminate access when reasonably necessary to protect users, rights holders, the Services, or the public; comply with law; investigate risk; address non-payment; or enforce these Terms.

Where appropriate, we will provide notice and an opportunity to appeal. Immediate action may be required for serious harm, fraud, security threats, repeat infringement, or legal orders. Provisions that by their nature should continue—such as ownership, completed purchase rights, payment obligations, disclaimers, liability limits, indemnity, and dispute terms—survive termination.

Disclaimers, responsibility, and liability

To the extent permitted by law, the Services are provided “as is” and “as available.” We do not promise uninterrupted availability, error-free transcription or formatting, permanent storage, guaranteed sales, or that all content is accurate, lawful, or suitable. You should keep independent copies of important work.

To the extent permitted by law, Skrybe is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, data, goodwill, or opportunities. Skrybe’s total liability arising from the Services will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid Skrybe for the relevant Services in the 12 months before the event or the minimum amount required by applicable law.

You will defend and indemnify Skrybe against third-party claims arising from Your Content, your listings or sales, your breach of these Terms, or your violation of another person’s rights, to the extent permitted by law. These provisions do not exclude liability that cannot legally be excluded, including rights available to consumers.

Changes, governing terms, and disputes

We may update these Terms as the Services, law, or risk landscape changes. We will post the updated version and revise the date above. For material changes, we will provide reasonable notice through the Services, by email, or another appropriate method before they take effect, unless urgent legal or safety changes require faster action.

The contracting entity, governing law, forum, and any region-specific dispute process will be identified at signup, checkout, or in supplemental terms. Before starting formal proceedings, you and Skrybe agree to make a reasonable good-faith effort to resolve the issue informally. Mandatory consumer protections and rights to approach regulators or courts remain unaffected.
